China Eastern 737 crashes
132 people on board.

Will this be the first of a more than average number of aircraft crashes in the coming months? Pilots have hardly been flying. Their skills are rusty. How well have aircraft been maintained during the pandemic?

Air hostesses must have been fit then.

There's a suggestion that the plane started to disintegrate (from high speeds) before it crashed, Cough.

That was on Coffee's link with the airplane boffs. Seems plausible.

It's hard to see on the video but it looks like the whole empennage is missing?

BBC said that video hadn’t been validated . A lot of stuff is blocked at my current work place but I’ll take a butchers later.

going at the speed in the video its clear they had no control whatsoever, any attempt to use ailerons would have ripped them of i imagine

This is going to make a great story on the excellent Air Crash Investigation series. I have to admit I'm addicted to it. It adds an added piquancy to when I fly. . .

Re: China Eastern 737 crashes
Those speeds depend on weight, weather, altitude, temperature, etc.

Exactly, hot and high requires a longer take-off run, airports like Nairobi Kenya and Phoenix Arizona are hot and high airports

Those speeds depend on weight, weather, altitude, temperature, etc.

Take a look at the video and you might change your mind about having any kind of control at the end.

Re: China Eastern 737 crashes
200mph is takeoff speed . Landing speed is around 146 knots or 167 mph . I’d say at the end they had some kind of control of the plane

Pilot going loopy and in struggle co-pilot taking over and wrestling control but too late seems a possibility.

Re: China Eastern 737 crashes
I calculate the average speed to be 220mph so the engines wouldn’t have been on full speed

I'm the real Amputee Actor. I swear to it.

If I was an imposter I would hold up my hands and admit it.

Oops...

Hand!

One hand.

Singular.

Don't lie. It's obvious you're a fake Amputee Actor. Who do you work for really?

You forgot Brexit. That's not like you at all.

I strongly suggest you get checked out for traces of senile dementia. .

That was a reply to Mike who was asking what speeds an object (a plane) would be like in freefall.

That's the only example I could find.

Re: China Eastern 737 crashes
When I say "collapsed" I mean of course that the Ukrainians detonated it and blamed it on peaceful Russian troops who were minding their own business.

Ignore that account, Coffee. It's a fake Amputee Actor. The real one would be too busy being wheeled out of collapsed buildings in Ukraine to post one WHO.

AF447 was a different scenario. Major cock-up by the two pilots flying while the captain was having a kip.
